Paver Sealing

Paver sealing is a protective coating we apply after cleaning. It locks in the original color, hardens the joint sand, and keeps moisture, UV, and algae from getting back into the surface. It is a separate service from paver cleaning. Cleaning restores how your pavers look right now. Sealing controls how long they stay that way.

Central Florida is hard on pavers. Sun fades the pigment all year. Afternoon rain pushes water into the pores. Algae and mold settle on anything that stays damp. Sealed pavers hold their color and shed stains instead of soaking them up. The Concrete Masonry and Hardscapes Association (CMHA), which absorbed the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute, publishes guidance on cleaning and sealing interlocking concrete pavement.

Wet look or natural finish

Two finishes. Wet look is glossy and darkens the paver face, so the colors pop the way they do after a rainstorm. Natural finish soaks in and protects without changing the color or adding sheen. Wet look suits a brick paver driveway when you want the color to show. Natural finish suits a travertine pool deck when you want the stone to look untouched. What paver sealing costs

Most paver sealing jobs run $300 to $800. Three things move the price: how many square feet we are sealing, what condition the pavers are in, and whether the visit includes cleaning and re-sanding first. We give you an exact price on site before any work starts, and that number does not change. Book cleaning and sealing together and ask for the bundled price.

Joint sand stabilization

Half the value of sealing is below the surface. Sealant soaks into the joint sand and binds it into a firm joint that holds the pavers in place. The joints resist weeds, ants, and washout far better than loose sand.

Best done right after a cleaning

Sealant bonds to the paver face. If algae, dirt, or old flaking sealant is still on the surface, the new coat bonds to that instead and fails early. So we clean and re-sand first, every time, let the pavers dry out completely, then seal, so nothing has time to grow back in between.

What sealing does between cleanings

Sealant keeps algae and mold from anchoring in the pores. When growth does show up on a sealed surface, it sits on top of the coating instead of in the concrete, so the next cleaning is a lighter job. Sealant wears down over time, so resealing is periodic.
